WELDING / GRINDING
Industrial Filtration for the Welding / Grinding Industry
Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials such as metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. This is done by melting the work pieces and adding a filler to form a pool of molten material that cools to become a strong joint.
Grinding is a metal-cutting process that is a large and diverse area of manufacturing. It produces fine finishes and accurate dimensions; yet in mass production it can rough out large volumes of metal rapidly.
Combining the welding and grinding processes results in small particulate release as well as fumes and gasses that typically have small particulate size. The cloud of dust you see when a worker cuts or grinds concrete, brick or stone contains crystalline silica. Filter media dust collectors such as bag houses are usually able to capture these fine, light particles.
National Filter Media provides several filter media options suitable for grinding operations.
